This debut album from an eight-piece praise and worship band has something of a '70s rock feel to it, which is refreshing in a retro sort of way. The songs are mostly fairly average p&w, some with a tendency to go for the 'before you/adore you' type cliche rather than the thought-through lyric. Exceptions are "He Can Find A Way" and "My Heart Bleeds" which venture into Jess well-trampled lyrical territory... em, like the book of Psalms does quite often in fact. There is potential here, but I feel much more of it could have been brought out through use of an experienced outside producer/arranger, bringing some discipline to the playing and recording and variation to the arrangements. And the first two things he/she would do? Get rid of most of that nasty reverb and make sure the instruments were in tune! Having said all that, I imagine many of these songs could work quite well in a live setting with a crowd of God's praising people, which is after all what this sort of music is for.
